Pond Life

I do love walking past this pond every day!

There was not a hint of a breeze - the ripples on the water were caused by fish
rising to the surface to catch flies.

One of our resident swans.

And the rest of the family!

A nice close-up of one of the cygnets being inquisitive....

Apple Blossom

After the recent dreadful weather, I was worried whether I had lost all hope of further apple blossom  appearing on my precious tree.

As you can see,  my worries were needless!

After The Rain, Some Sun !

An unkempt but magnificent hedge alongside a paddock...

And in close-up :-)

A glimpse through a gap in the hedge.
The water is not a stream, just water-sodden paddock !

I just liked the shape of the tree!

Seagulls on the pond, hoping to steal bread from the ducks......

Autumn foliage. I have no idea what the tree is, to produce such ephemera.

I believe this to be a Rowan, complete with a great display of berries.

And this tree, almost bare of leaves now.

In The Garden

at the moment are one robin, two collared doves, two wood pigeons, a blue tit and lots of house sparrows, all clustered around the bird feeding station. Most days we also have blackbirds, starlings, jackdaws, hedge sparrows at various points in the daylight hours

What delight to see the beauties of God's creation :-)

Whilst walking the dog this morning, I heard a woodpecker in the woodland backing onto nearby houses, which was wonderful. We are so lucky, living in a semi-rural area.

Earthquake in Greece

An earthquake in Greece, affecting Athens and the Peloponnese, struck this morning.
Mercifully, according to the BBC report, it was very deep underground and there have been no reports of casualties.
The last big Greek quake in 1999 killed 100 people.
