The current fires in Greece are causing tragedy and devastation in equal measure.
At least 47 people have died, with many more injured and the fires continue. Coverage here and here.
DH said that when he was watching the news, video footage was shown of people doing their very best to put out the flames, led by their Orthodox priest blessing them and their endeavours with his blessing cross.
Quiet the opposite problem is faced by people in Orthodox Romania, where huge flooding has caused chaos.
