Recently Read



The Mr Rural Dean book is a delightful, slightly whimsical and often funny book about the life of an Anglican priest ministering to his parish in the South Wales valleys. What sets this priest apart is the fact that he is the brother of the famous Sir Harry Secombe, who makes a guest appearance in the parish....

Deep Black is a re-read, but still thoroughly enjoyable.


The Gervase Phinn book is a classic, outlining the day to day work and adventures of a School Inspector in the Yorkshire Dales. Many anecdotes relate to the gorgeous comments often made by children, and it is a poignant and touching book.  
The Reluctant Tuscan is food for my inner traveller; I love books about people's experiences in other countries.......



I am a keen family historian, and was thrilled to find these two books written by a well-known genealogist who appears regularly in TV programmes. Both are detective books, in which the bizarre quirks of family history re-emerging after many years play a prominent part, and are quite gory in places, though not on the gore level of Faye Kellerman, for instance......
