Loved the article; the comments on reading worrying the authorities in previous centuries was illuninating, and the phrase "reading epidemics" in relation to Germany gave me a laugh.
hmmmm... Actually I gave up, or rather stopped, reading books a couple years ago. I try to pick one up and I get two pages into it and just can't get back to it. Its really a weird time of my life.
Been there, done that. Swore off reading and writing after I finally finished my English/Creative Writing degree. All that reading and writing sucked the life right out of me.
Recently, I did manage to read 2 books that were geared to 4th-graders, though, so that's a plus.
I'm twitching right along with you.
ReplyDeleteAs am I.

I could probably give up reading books for a week-there are enough other things I could get done around the house...but...
ReplyDeleteI love my books!
Though at times I know I choose to read to escape other things..
