I just had to buy these. First edition set of Winston's Churchill's magnificent opus, the history of the Second World War. I got the whole set of six volumes for the princely sum of £3 in my favourite charity shop. It would have been a crime to leave them there.
A piece of history.

I'm with you. WC is a *favorite* in this household -- we are old enough to remember him when he was alive, and our parents spoke of him with great awe.
WC is a favourite in our family too !
I have vivid memories of all going as a family, grandparents down to my eldest two when they were small, to pay our respects at his grave at Bladen and visit his ancestral home, Blenheim Palace.
He was a highly intelligent, brave and generally wise man who did not shirk from making horrendously hard and painful decisions when necessary in wartime.
It's good to know you are out there fighting crime.
What a steal!
I love Winston Churchill! We could use more leaders like him these days.
What a coincidence! I also purchased a set of the same books recently at a local book shop (gently used and in good shape).
I haven't started them yet as I already have three others ahead in my reading queue.
