Having duly bookmarked this, I then promptly forgot all about it !
There is a little English medieval church which has a rood screen. The architecture of the church is such that at sunset on two occasions a year, the crucifix on the rood screen is illuminated by the setting sun for four minutes, providing that it is not cloudy, of course......

that's so beautiful. the last couple of weeks, the light from the stained windows falls upon the iconostasis in our Church during Vespers, ever so beautifully.

The look on that one lady's face was almost as beautiful as the rood screen. (I always wondered what a rood screen was, so that question is now answered, too!) Reminds me of my daughter's face when she saw her first Christmas tree. Only this was even more beautiful, that after a lifetime of experiences, this woman could still stand in such awe.
