9/11 Revisited

It is amazing that seven years have passed since the senseless, dreadful loss of life that occurred on 9/11.

I can so vividly remember being very heavily pregnant with DD4 and watching the appalling tragedy unfold on TV coverage. I watched it over and over again, in shock and disbelief.
Even now, I struggle to comprehend it in its horror.

Life for all of us has never - and will never - be the same again.

Memory eternal to *all* who perished on that day.

May God grant peace to those who were involved , to those who were helping in saving others, who have all been so profoundly affected by the events of that dreadful day.
411 Emergency workers lost their lives whilst rescuing others - surely their job is the bravest of the brave.

Lord have mercy on us all.

A truly horrifying starkly factual synopsis of that day is here.

Ana was 4 months old that day. Jim was working in DC and the news kept reporting that another plane was headed in that direction. It was such a scary, horrifying day...Memory Eternal Indeed!

Living in DC... with warplanes zooming overhead, barrel-rolling toward your office... it was not only frightening, but difficult to sleep at night (they kept the racket up all night for a month). I thought, "So this is how much of the rest of the world lives..." . I never thought we'd have that here.

The NYTimes reconstructed the events in the Twin Towers from phone messages. It was heart wrenching.

I have no particular notion that these events played a role in my journey to Orthodoxy... but I'm sure they did. Somehow... we're just not playing anymore.

Memory Eternal!
