Better News

Thank you for all your prayers, Mum is **much** better but feeling very tired after all the upset and upheaval.

I own to being rather concerned about her continuing to live on her own ; this has really, really shaken her very badly, and the outcome could so easily have been disastrous. She is two and a half miles away from us, and I don't drive; there are no buses to anywhere near where she lives after 4.15pm, so she is quite isolated, although an elderly friend of hers lives nearby and he does drive.

Time to think and pray hard about what is best to do.......

That was a very serious reaction Elizabeth. It may necessary to find out other derivatives of the medication so she doesn't have the same reaction to a different one.

Perhaps also keep a liquid antihistamine in the house so if a mild allergic reaction occurs she can take that to counter it. That is what I have to do.

A difficult decision, to figure out what to do for her in case of emergency. Distance is a major concern, I agree with you. God will guide you. May He also soften your Mum's heart so she arrives as the same conclusion as you regarding her care.

So glad your Mum is better. I went through a similar thing with both my parents for about 3 years, until finally they hired help, and then moved into a retirement community. Very traumatic on all of us -- except them! Dad is too out of it to know the difference, and Mom loves it where they are. She feels safe, and many of her friends had already preceded her there, and she has much to do.
