Nature, Red In Tooth And Claw



The bird you can just see in the above picture is a female wild sparrowhawk who has just caught and killed a large wood pigeon, a few doors away from my house.

The glories of zoom lenses and digital zoom :-)
A magnificent hawk indeed, and a very rare photo opportunity of these shy and nervous hunting birds.
Probably my photo of the decade !

We had one of these in our back yard the middle of summer. She was munching on a rabbit of which we have a bajillion hopping all over the yard because our neighbor feeds them lettuce!
