For the record, let it be known that I really dislike football.
My DH is utterly glued to the TV because of the World Cup.
Every now and then he calls me to sit and watch with him, to keep him company.
I have so far refrained from telling him that I would rather be disembowelled in the woods with a blunt stick , but I sit there for a while, with a good book instead.
By the end of the tournament it may be a different matter :-)
On a better note, he is now addicted to House MD too :-)

Mrs H hates the football, too.
I'm by no means footie mad, but I do like to watch thr World Cup matches when I can reasonably do so. Since I sat outside while we barbeque during the first half of Serbia/Montenegro v. Holland, I'm allowed to watch the second half while she's gone to the bookstore to get stuff to plan our summer holiday.
We'll see how it goes tonight. If there is anything else on, I'm sure I can forget Mexico v. Iran or Angola v. Portugal. But I have to mark Yr 10 exercise books and exam anyway.
In regard to the World Cup or football in general, I would get more enjoyment pushing a pea up Vesuvius with my nose!
In general, at least here in Indiana many people (men usually but some women) seem to equate basketball as a religion of sorts. I try avoid visiting friends and most family as much as possible if any local teams are playing during basketball season. If you're not interested in the game they prefer you to leave anyway. By the way, I personally can't stand basketball or American football.
A few years ago there was a basketball game where a brawl broke out between two players on opposing teams. With in minutes the some of the spectators were involved. As one person was quoted as saying 'I went to basketball game and a boxing match broke out.'
So I can certainly sympathise with you. I listen to the BBC via internet and will be glad when World Cup ends and normal programming is restored especially on Radio 5. Radio 4 is my favourite anyway.
God Bless you!

Sorry: I'm just not interested either. I may, with your permission, use your line Elizabeth. :)
